Application open March 1, 2026 - March 31, 2026 (Recipient of Award will be notified prior to or on April 15, 2026)

Eligible Applicants: Any graduating high school senior.

Additional Eligibility: Student applicant must demonstrate one or more of the following characteristics: Love, Joy, Kindness, Goodness, Peace, Patience, Gentleness, Self-Control, Faithfulness.

BACKGROUND:

Mrs. Bernita Jo (Howard) Daniels, graduated from Steele High School in Steele, MO in 1947.  She married J.T. Daniels and all five of their children were South Pemiscot High School graduates. (Sharon Daniels Cross-1975, Laura Daniels and Darla Daniels Pritchett-1981, Angie Daniels Martin and Cynthia Daniels Booker-1988). 

Mrs. Bernita Jo (Howard) Daniels was a talented author who enjoyed writing children's stories, poems, and songs. She also enjoyed painting, crafting, and playing musical instruments and singing the songs she wrote. She was loving, joyful, and kind to family, friends, and strangers. In addition, Mrs. Bernita Jo (Howard) Daniels demonstrated peace, patience, goodness, gentleness, self-control, and faithfulness in her relationships and interactions with others. 

This memorial scholarship seeks applicants that demonstrate similar characteristics in their everyday lives as that of Mrs. Bernita Jo (Howard) Daniels.

SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT & PURPOSE: 

A memorial scholarship has been set up in the name of published author, Mrs. Bernita Jo (Howard) Daniels. Funding for this memorial scholarship is made possible through the proceeds from her book sales and donations and will be awarded in the amount of $250. This memorial scholarship award can be used on any expenses associated with job preparation and/or ongoing education.
